Students, teachers rejoice when power returns to school in Puerto Rico

After 112 days without power, students and teachers at a school in Puerto Rico erupted with cheers of joy, dancing and running through the halls ringing bells when the electricity was finally restored.

The Academic Bautista de Puerto Nuevo in San Juan posted video of the celebrating children and faculty on its Facebook page.

“After 112 days, THE POWER IS BACK!” the school wrote. “Undisputed joy from all of us who make up ABPN. We thank all of the parents, students and staff who have stayed and continued to support us throughout this situation.”

The school has been without power since Hurricane Maria in September. Four months later, nearly 40 percent of customers are still without power in Puerto Rico.
