Attorney Yao Dinizulu talks nursing homes, arbitration clauses

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - A story in the New York Times last month details a big problem for families who choose to put their loved ones in nursing homes.

Many nursing facilities are now including arbitration clauses in their contracts, meaning if something happens to your loved one, you cannot sue for damages.

Arbitration clauses have become very popular over the last decade, being included in everything from cellphone and credit card contracts to student loans.

Nursing homes in particular have been including them in complex contracts that most don't understand when they're signing.

So how do you navigate these contracts? And what should you do if a nursing home has an arbitration clause in their contract? Yao Dinizulu, a personal injury attorney who's handled many of these types of cases, joined FOX 32 Thursday morning to discuss.
