Daycare hit by bullets; 4 wounded

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Four people were wounded as bullets went flying on a Chicago street, and some of the bullets hit a daycare.

The people who were shot were all in a car on the 5400 block of Loomis at 1:55 p.m. on Wednesday. No one inside the daycare was hurt.

The four people who were wounded are male ranging in age from 16 to 24. Police said at least two are documented gang members. They drove themselves to the hospital. One was shot in the chest and is in critical condition. Two of the others had shrapnel injuries.

The shooters got away in another car.

"I have no words. It's just devastating, scary," said Earline Parker, whose 3-year-old child goes to the daycare.

The shooting happened during naptime, and 30 kids were lying down to sleep. Teachers said that might have been what saved them from being shot.

"It's dangerous. Anythign could happen," said Shameka Crawford, whose son walks from school to the daycare every day.

Parker said she's lived in Chicago for her whole life, and she's done.

"I'm ready to get out now," Parker said.
