Chicago Police: Boy rides bike through fire on South Side, burns leg

SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE - An 11-year-old boy burned his leg when he rode a bicycle through a small fire while playing Monday afternoon in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.
About 3:15 p.m., he and other children were burning books and paper in the 8600 block of South Peoria when he rode through the flames and his pants caught fire, according to Chicago police and fire officials.
He suffered second-degree burns from the knee to ankle on his left leg and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, officials said.
