15-year-old boy dies after being struck by vehicle in Blue Island

A 15-year-old boy died Sunday night after he was struck by a vehicle in south suburban Blue Island.

Bryan Romero died at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 9:01 p.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police responded to a two-car, rollover collision about 6:50 p.m. in the 13600 block of South Western Avenue, Blue Island police said. Following the collision, one of the vehicles rolled onto the sidewalk and struck Romero.

An autopsy Monday found he died of multiple injuries and his death was ruled an accident.

The collision is being investigated by the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team, police said. Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a contributing factor in the collision.
