Attempted child luring reported in East Garfield Park

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Chicago Police are cautioning residents of the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side after an attempted child luring was reported Tuesday.

Two boys, 5 and 9, and a 12-year-old girl were walking on South Central Park towards the 3500 block of West Arthington about 8:40 a.m. when a man in a red vehicle pulled up and whistled at them, according to a community alert from police. He then told them to get in the vehicle and opened his door before the children ran away.

He was described as a 30 to 40-year-old black man with a bald head and black and gray beard, police said. He was wearing a white tank top and black shorts. His vehicle was described as a red four-door with body damage throughout.
