CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - A southwest side bar erupted with excitement as the final “out” was called and their boys became the Senior League Baseball World Series champs.
The Clear Ridge team made up of Clearing and Garfield Ridge residents on the city’s southwest side went undefeated during regular season. They beat Australia Asia-Pacific team Saturday in Bangor, Maine, 7-2.
The Senior League team is made up of about 2 dozen 13-17 year olds – most have been playing baseball together since they were 6-7 years old.
“Everyone knows each other's family, so it not just how proud I am it's how proud they are too," said Mike Skoraczewski, father of a player and coached the team when they were younger. “I just hope that the city wraps their arms around them as much as we will."
