CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Hundreds of people filled Millenium Park Sunday afternoon for a protest hosted by BLMChiYouth.
It started around 5:30 with a sit-in, speakers and poets. The goal of the demonstration was to call on the youth to come out in support of policy change, to hold police accountable and the end the systemic oppression.
Immediately following the sit-in, the group hit the streets in the Loop as Chicago Police officers walked and biked alongside them.
During the march the organizers paused at most intersections to speak about the death of Paul O’Neal, the 18 year old African American who was shot in the back by police last month in the South Shore neighborhood. This demonstration comes just days after police released dash cam and bodycam videos showing officers firing at the unarmed teen driving a stolen car.
No arrests were reported during the march.
