- It was a very special day at the ballpark for a 5-year-old suburban boy battling leukemia.

Brandon Hinojosa got to see his favorite team, the Cubs, beat up on their rival, the Cardinals, from a pretty amazing vantage point.

Imagine being five years old and getting to step onto Wrigley Field.

"Look at him. He's in heaven. Man, this is it right here,” said the little boy’s father, Robbie Hinojosa.

Brandon Hinojosa deserved the special treat. The Cubs' honorary batboy for Friday’s game against the Cardinals has been battling A-L-L, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, since he was just two years old. He has undergone numerous rounds of chemotherapy and seven blood transfusions.

Now, though, there's reason to celebrate.
"We're in remission. And we are actually supposed to, if all goes well, finish up this November. And he will have his port taken out in January. And we will be done,” said Brandon’s mom, Brandy.

And what better way to celebrate for a Cubs fan than a day at the friendly confines.

"I hope they win and I hope they get the championship trophy,” Brandon said.

On Friday, Brandon and his family, who are all from Lake Zurich, got the VIP treatment: lunch in the stadium club.

Their pictures were also taken on the field, Brandon received a brand new jersey, and he had the chance to see some Cubs up-close.

Brandon's favorite Cubs player is Anthony Rizzo, and there's a reason for that that goes beyond baseball.

"We know Rizzo went through something similar to this. And whenever things get kind of tough for him the quote around the house is you're gonna get tough like Rizzo,” Robbie said.

Or maybe it should be, “Tough like Brandon.”

In case you didn't know, Anthony Rizzo battled Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when he was 18, undergoing six months of chemotherapy. He now runs a foundation that provides support for children fighting cancer.
