2 found dead after 'suspicious' Garfield Ridge fire

CHICAGO (STMW) - Chicago Police arson detectives are investigating after two men were found dead following a suspicious fire in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood Saturday morning.

Authorities were called about a fire at a house in the 5200 block of South Lorel at 9:40 a.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Bari Lemmon.

Two men, ages 63 and 28, were found dead inside the building, according to police and fire officials. The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the deaths but could not provide further details Saturday morning.

Arson detectives are investigating the fire, Lemmon said.

No smoke detectors were found inside the house, according to Fire Media Affairs
