2 killed in rollover crash on I-57

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Two people were killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash early Sunday, closing all southbound lanes on Interstate 57 on the Far South Side, fire officials said.

A car struck a pole and the concrete barrier about 2:45 a.m. and rolled over in the southbound lanes of I-57 near 99th Street, according to Illinois State Police.

Two people were killed in the crash, according to Fire Cmdr. Walter Schroeder and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

No other injuries were reported, fire officials said.

All lanes were re-opened to traffic about 8 a.m., police said.
