SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE - A bicyclist was critically injured in a Portage Park neighborhood crash Tuesday afternoon on the Northwest Side.
About 1:40 p.m., the 20-year-old man was biking in the 5900 block of West Irving Park road when someone opened the door of a parked car and he slammed into it, according to Chicago Police. He was then hit by another vehicle in traffic.
The man was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition.
The drivers stayed at the scene, police said. The person in the parked car was cited for opening a door in traffic.
