Scanner traffic captures moment officers realize McCarthy was fired

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - You always wonder how people react when their boss is fired. When that boss is the Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, you don't have to wonder.

Police scanner traffic captured the moment Chicago police officers realized Garry McCarthy was fired. And some of those officers were apparently not happy about the change in command.

"Uhh... did they just fire the Superintendent?" One officer asks over the radio.

"Yes they did," another responds.

The scanner captures another officer saying, "But the mayor has his back."

"When are they going to fire the mayor?" another officer responds.
