CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - After all the buzz, hype and protests, is the movie Chiraq any good?
FOX 32’s Jake Hamilton sat down with Spike Lee and the stars of the film to find out why they did what they did.
Chiraq made headlines from the moment the title was released - and then puzzled audiences when the plot was revealed.
A modern day version of the Greek play "Lysistrata," the film tells the story of women on the South Side of Chicago who withhold sex from their men in order to stop the violence.
The concept for the film was developed long before the decision was made to set the story in Chicago, but Spike Lee assured FOX 32 News that it couldn't have been set anywhere else.
While Spike was busy making a Greek satire on the South Side, the fact remains people were dying - something he told me he isn't using to reinforce his film.
FOX 32’s Jake Hamilton did not love the film, but others say it’s Spike Lee's best work in years.
