CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - A new poll shows more than half of Chicagoans believe Mayor Rahm Emanuel should resign and nearly two thirds believe the mayor was lying when he said he hadn't seen the Laquan McDonald video.
The poll shows 51 percent say he should resign, 18 percent approve of how the mayor is doing his job, and 67 percent disapprove.
The poll was published by The Insider, a newsletter published by Illinois Observer.
One of the pollsters said the numbers may be affected by the strong emotional response to the McDonald video.
Wednesday night, the mayor was asked about resigning.
“I love this city. I really believe in what we can do. I know that I let people down. I own that. And I’m committed to making a right from a wrong,” Emanuel said.
Protesters plan to push for the mayor's resignation by asking people to walk out of work at noon.
More than 1,000 people have signed up on Facebook to join the rally at Daley Plaza.
