Google's super-fast Internet service could come to Chicago

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Google is considering wiring Chicago with its ultra-fast Internet service.

Google Fiber has speeds of up to 1,000 megabits per second. At that speed, a full-length hi-def movie could be downloaded in about seven seconds.

The average Internet speed in Illinois is around 31 megabits per second.

Google Fiber is also looking at Los Angeles for its next market.

The service is already running in Kansas City, Mo.; Austin, Texas; and Provo, Utah.
