CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -- Five people were robbed at gunpoint inside a downtown Chicago hotel room Saturday morning. Police said it happened around 8:30 a.m. inside the Congress Plaza Hotel on South Michigan Avenue.
Officials said two men followed a guest to his hotel room, forced their way in and robbed five victims ranging in ages from 19 to 23, stealing things like purses, wallets and phones.
The two suspects were met by hotel security in the lobby but escaped through the front doors of the hotel.
Guests said Saturday afternoon it’s not shocking, but would like more information.
“We've talked to a couple of people and they acted like they didn't know what was going on,” said guest Matthew Carter.
Police say no one was injured during the Saturday morning robbery and a weapon was recovered on scene.
No one at the hotel would comment about the incident.
Police consider this to be a random act of violence and are still searching for the men involved.
