Chicago Air and Water Show takes flight this weekend

Some spectators decided to beat the crowds for the Chicago Air and Water show by attending the rehearsal Friday.

- The annual Chicago Air and Water show kicks off Saturday at North Avenue Beach.

The show runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The U.S. Navy Blue Angels and Breitling Jet Team, traveling all the way from France, will be part of this year's show.

The show can be viewed along the lakefront from Fullerton to Oak Street, with North Avenue Beach as the focal point. And the best part is, it's free!

Heads up if you plan on making the trip to the shoreline to see the show, Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny with temperatures holding steady in the high 80s. On Sunday, the area is expected to see 90 degrees for only the sixth time this summer, according to the weather service. Only five days have been at or above 90 through mid-August.

If you want to see the show without the crowd, there is a practice show at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
