85-year-old woman killed, infant injured in Libertyville crash

An elderly woman was killed and three other people, including an infant, were injured in a crash Sunday evening near north suburban Libertyville.

A 2003 Chrysler Town and Country minivan was on the off-ramp for southbound Route 45 when the driver attempted to make a left turn onto eastbound Route 137 and was struck by a 2014 Cadillac CTS that was westbound on Route 137, according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff’s office.

The driver of the Chrysler, 85-year-old Jeanne T. Deichmiller of Deerfield, was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where she was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff’s office.

The passenger in the Chrysler, a 63-year-old Deerfield man, was also taken to Condell with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Cadillac, a 22-year-old Round Lake Beach man, and his passenger, a 22-month-old infant, were taken to the Northwestern-Grayslake emergency room with with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the statement.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
