CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Former Chicago Bears quarterback Erik Kramer was sent to the hospital following an attempted suicide, according to reports.
NBC News reports 50-year-old Kramer tried to kill himself Wednesday night in Los Angeles. Doctos say his injuries are non-life threatening and he is expected to be OK.
Kramer's ex-wife says he has suffered from depression for years, blaming the depression on his years spent in the NFL.
Back in 2011, the couple's son was found dead from a drug overdose.
Kramer spent five seasons with the Bears, throwing for 29 touchdowns during the 1995 season. He still holds the team record for passing touchdowns. During his time in the NFL, Kramer also played for the Falcons, Lions, and Chargers.
