CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A semi-truck driver was killed when he was hit by another truck Friday morning on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the South Side.
Agustin Perez, 32, of Berwyn, was driving a 2000 Freightliner semi about 5 a.m. when he stopped on the shoulder of the local lanes of southbound I-90/94 near 31st Street, according to Illinois State Police.
Perez got out of his truck and was hit by a 2013 Volvo truck in the right lane, state police said. It was not immediately clear why he got out of his truck.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police and Chicago Fire Media Affairs. The driver of the Volvo was taken to Mercy Hospital, but his condition was not immediately known.
All local lanes of the southbound Dan Ryan remained closed Friday night near 31st, state police said.
