Car plunges into Hyde Park lagoon

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Two people escaped unharmed when their car plunged into a Hyde Park neighborhood lagoon just south of the Museum of Science and Industry early Saturday.

The person at the wheel lost control about 2:20 a.m. in the 5900 block of South Cornell Drive and veered into the water, according to Chicago Police.

The driver and passenger were able to get out before the car completely submerged, police said. They were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center for observation.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
