CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - There is a new art display at an historic firehouse downtown.

Engine 98 on Chicago and Michigan Avenue welcomed five new murals Thursday painted by Chicago high schoolers. It’s a perfect blend of Chicago’s future with Chicago’s past.

The new murals were also dedicated, 5 of them, to celebrating the history of Chicago Fire Department's Engine 98 near Water Tower Place.

“It date backs to the 1900's and it’s been a mainstay in this community ever since then,” said fire commissioner Jose Santiago.

The murals were created by 30 teenage artists from a program called ‘After School Matters.’
