Chicago Christmas tree lit up Tuesday

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Chicago's Christmas tree has officially been lit Tuesday night in its new home in Millennium Plaza.

The 102nd annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony kicked off at 5:30 p.m.

There was musical performances and even an appearance by Santa before the switch was flipped at 6 p.m. Admission was free.

The 63-foot Colorado spruce was donated by the Voelker family of Northlake and was picked out of 130 submissions.
