CHICAGO (Fox 32 News) - Chicago has a bridge to give you.

Well, really, the Ford City Bridge over Pulaski is being offered up by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). The bridge is crumbling and in need of repair.

It once carried thousands of cars every day to the Dodge Chicago Plant. The plant was built in 1942. The bridge was built just two years later.

Now, it's crumbling and traffic is minimal. The Chicago Tribune says anyone who wants to take over "ownership" will need to prove they can take care of it.

The future of the bridge will be discussed on Thursday, Aug. 17, at Daley College.

If no one wants it, the bridge will be demolished. That work will cost $2 to $3 million, the Tribune reported.
