At least 100 people line up in Chicago to pre-order Tesla Model 3

It’s being called the "affordable Tesla.”

The car maker calls its new $35,000 ‘Model 3’ a "game changer". The launch of the electric car has electrified future customers who lined up Thursday, all across the country,  to pay a thousand dollar deposit to pre-order the new Tesla.

The scene Thursday at the Tesla showroom in Chicago had several lined up to fork over a grand just to pre-order a Tesla 3. Keep in mind, production of this car won't even begin until late next year, so many of those who order one, won't even get to drive it, much less see it, for almost two years.

But for fans of Tesla and Elon Musk, it's worth the wait.

"He’s got a track record of producing beautiful cars. I’ll go in blind under his guidance. I think it's going to be great. I don't care what it looks like.”

You can pre-order online at 10:30 P.M Thursday night when CEO Musk personally unveils the Model 3.
