CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - The city of Chicago announced Monday that it will begin accepting applications for the next exam to become a Chicago police officer this month.
Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said the application process will open on August 15, ahead of the next entrance exam on December 16.
Johnson said the city plans to hire nearly 1,000 new officers over the next two years.
Officers who join will make $72,510 annually after 18 months and will be eligible for healthcare benefits, tuition reimbursement, clothing allowances, and a retirement plan.
