CPS says students abroad in Paris are safe

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - A series of unprecedented attacks on popular night spots killed more than 100 people in the deadliest violence to strike France since World War II, officials said.

The worst carnage was at a concert hall hosting an American rock band, where scores of people were held hostage and attackers hurled explosives at their captives. Police who stormed the building, killing two attackers, encountered a bloody scene of horror inside.

The attacks in France shocked the world Friday. But the news was especially hard to swallow for a group of Chicago Public Schools parents.

A group of students from the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences in Mount Greenwood and Lincoln Elementary were in Paris Friday as French exchange students.

The school sent a safety alert to parents following the news of the attacks:

All of our CHSAS family in Paris, France are safe and together. We are working with authorities to make sure that they remain safe. Our thoughts and prayers go to the people of France.
