Cubs away but excitement continues at Wrigley

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - The Chicago Cubs were away Saturday night, but Wrigley Field was still sold out.

Thousands of people filed in to the Friendly Confines to see Cheap Trick and the Foo Fighters at one of the many summer concerts this season.

“Foo Fighters we are here, Chicago!” said Corey Janowski outside Wrigley before going in for the concert.

"Came here in 2012 and saw Roger Waters’ The Wall,” said Scott Morgan in from out-of-state for the concert.

Just two days ago Billy Joel performed to a packed stadium.  What was said to be a great show got even better for some fans when Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer took to the stage.  Cell phone video caught them kicking off their shoes and dancing on top of Billy Joel’s piano.

Some fans were crossing their fingers for a similar surprise guest during Saturday’s concert

"Maybe Michael Jordan, Oprah or somebody with a Chicago connection will just show up," said fan Matt Leon.

He is celebrating his birthday at the ballpark, thanks to his wife, but he admits he may be a little distracted by his Cubbies.

"They are playing in LA tonight so I’ll keep one eye on the stage and one eye on the scoreboard," he said.

Friends Janowski and Tyler Swanson are hoping Mother Nature doesn't throw them a curve ball.

“Foo Fighters aren’t going to stop for the rain, this is a rain or shine show," said Swanson.

Regardless of the show Mother Nature provides - concert goers are determined to have a good time.

In case you missed Billy Joel Thursday night and the Foo Fighters Saturday night, there are two other concerts planned at Wrigley.

The Zac Brown Band and ACDC will both play shows next month.
