Dozens of cars involved in crashes in Peoria area

Murray Baker Bridge in Peoria saw a multi-car accident Easter Sunday

PEORIA, Illinois (Fox 32 News) - Three bridges over the Illinois River in the Peoria area were closed Sunday because of dangerous conditions and accidents.

An Easter snow storm blanketed the area. 

About a dozen vehicles were involved in a crash on the Murray Baker Bridge, according to the Journal- Star. About 15 cars were involved in a crash on the McClugage Bridge, the newspaper reported. Several people were injured.

An accident also close the Shade-Lohmann Bridge. 

Peoria Fire Department Tom Carr told the newspaper there were quote "a ton" of cars involved, and that "it's like the last lap of the Daytona 500 out there."
