Driver crashes after braking to avoid chicken in road

A northwest suburban man was injured in a crash trying to avoid a chicken in the road Monday morning, according to the DeKalb County sheriff’s office.

The 59-year-old was driving a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix southbound on Five Points Road north of Aldrich Road in unincorporated Kingston about 6:20 a.m. when he braked to avoid a chicken in the road and lost control of the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.

The car went into a ditch and rolled onto its passenger side, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Loves Park man was injured in the crash and was taken to Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, according to the sheriff’s office.
