Heat wave to stick around Chicago through Monday

CHICAGO (Fox 32 News) - Around Chicago on Saturday, most people were enjoying the heat after our long winter.

The area around the Crown Fountains in Millennium Park was packed with kids.

"It's really fun, because you get to go in the water and you get to play with other kids that you don't know," Anika Gupta said.

Across town, the annual Pride Fest was packed.

"I've always wanted to go to Chicago Pride, and I decided i'm going to start checking off my bucket list," Nick Arnott said.

And Montrose Beach was busy.

"It's absolutely fantastic," Colleen Murphy said. "It's not very hot, I get a cool breeze, get to watch my kids have fun."

Cook County was under an excessive heat warning as of Saturday evening, and the heat is expected to stick around through Monday.

Meteorologist Mark Strehl said it was be sharply cooler on Tuesday, with a high of just 68 and a chance of afternoon showers.
