Homewood girl killed near North Carolina college

A Homewood girl was shot and killed Sunday near the campus of North Carolina A & T State University in Greensboro.  Alisia Dieudonne, 19-years-old and a sophomore at the college, was at a house party with friends when a fight broke out and someone started to shoot.

Greensboro police say they found her inside the home with a gunshot wound along with 21-year-old Ahmad Campbell from North Carolina who had also been shot.

They were both rushed to a hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Dieudonne’s family said they got the call around 3a.m. Sunday from a Greensboro, North Carolina detective telling them she was shot and killed.

Her family tells us she graduated Homewood-Flossmoor High school in 2015 and went on to study computer science at North Carolina A & T State University.  Her family said she was the baby of 5 siblings and the fifth to go to college.

“Someone decided because they would not let them into the party to shoot and when the shot they killed my child,” said Mary Dieudonne Hill, the girl’s mother.

Hill works on Chicago’s south side and is no stranger to violence.

“I work in Englewood I have lost several of my students to this senseless violence that's plaguing our country,” she said Sunday night. “I wish this on no one.”

Dieudonne is described as an energetic, loving girl with a passion for computers and dance, but her goal was to graduate like her siblings and be successful.

“She would want you to know that she lived and I don't want her do die for nothing so we have to do something about this violence,” said her mother.

Dieudonne’s brother is a Marine officer and was set to report to Quantico, Virginia Monday - that has since been postponed.

One family member told FOX 32 Chicago she wants the world to know that violence happens everywhere not just in Chicago.

Police are still investigating this crime and don't have anyone
