‘Suspicious item' determined not dangerous in Oswego

OSWEGO (STMW) - A suspicious item that was discovered by IDOT workers Thursday morning on a path in southwest suburban Oswego has been deemed safe.
At 11:14 a.m., IDOT employees working in the area discovered a “suspicious item” on a walking path near Route 25 and Boulder Hill Pass in Oswego, according to the Kendall County sheriff’s office.
The item turned was a PVC pipe with PVC caps on each end, according to the sheriff’s office. The Kane County Bomb Disposal Unit rendered the item inert.
The pipe appears to have washed up out of the river or been covered with brush for an extended period of time, according to the sheriff’s office.
The road and walking path have reopened to the public, according to the statement.
