Bulletproof laminate helping to protect Chicago school

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - There is a new way to protect students from becoming victims of a school shooting.

A new laminate for windows can turn ordinary glass into a protective shield.

Advanced Coatings Engineering, which makes the laminate, was in Chicago Monday for a demonstration.

The company's CEO actually stood behind glass protected by the laminate while shots were fired.

The makers of Advanced Coatings say they recently outfitted a Chicago school with the protective gear at a third of the cost of bulletproof glass.
