Major staff changes, reassignments for CPD

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - The new man in charge of the Chicago Police Department is wasting no time making some big changes.

Interim superintendent John Escalante is making major staff changes and reassignments.

Escalante is making a series of staff promotions and new leadership assignments.

He says this will create the most diverse police command staff in city history.

Fifty percent of city police chiefs and deputy police chiefs are now African American.

Escalante also says more women will be serving in executive leadership roles.
