Man captures touching moment between CPD officer, starving dog

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - One Chicagoan captured the Chicago Police Department doing something far beyond the call of duty. 

"John" sent an email to the Chicago Police Department describing something sweet he witnessed on the South Side. 

On January 26, John said he was working in the area of 58th Street and Union when he observed a very malnourished dog sitting on the street in below freezing weather.
"Two Chicago Police officers go out of their way to get food and get the dog into their truck and take him to safety. This may not mean a lot to some people, but to the animal lovers, these cops are heroes. I am glad I was there to share this."
John told CPD he sent the email in the hopes of highlighting the compassionate side of the department that is rarely spoken about.
