OSHA investigating fatal industrial accident in Chicago Heights

CHICAGO (STMW) -  The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating after a man was killed in an industrial accident in south suburban Chicago Heights.

David Wehmhoefer, 41, suffered blunt force injuries in an industrial accident in the 100 block of East 12th Street in Chicago Heights, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday at Franciscan St James Health Chicago Heights.

An autopsy Thursday ruled his death an accident.

OSHA has opened an investigation into the death and is conducting interviews with the business owner and other employees to determine what happened, spokesman Scott Allen said Friday morning.
