An outage Wednesday afternoon resulted in delays for Southwest Airlines passengers after planes were temporarily grounded at Midway International Airport.

Multiple technology systems began experiencing issues as a result of an outage, a spokeswoman for Southwest Airlines said.

“We are now managing flight delays across out system, with a temporary ground stop in place for those flights that have not left the gate,” the spokeswoman said in a statement.

Systems were gradually coming back online and crews were continuing to address technical issues.

A Tweet from Southwest Airlines said that flight status and check-in were both functional again just before 4 p.m. on their website. Customers were encouraged to check their flight status frequently.

The number of flights delayed and an estimated time of when all systems will be back online was not provided.
