Party rages on in Wrigleyville after World Series win

FOX 32 NEWS - Some fans just couldn't wait for the city's celebration Friday. So, they woke up early Thursday and headed down to Wrigleyville to get the party started.

Fans keep pouring into Wrigleyville, and the biggest reason is that they still can't wrap their minds around what happened.

"We had to see the marquee to make sure it wasn’t some crazy dream," Shellie Dell said.

Shellie and Steve Dell met at the Friendly Confines. They, like the thousands who keep flocking to Wrigley, are doing so for themselves and for loved ones.

"I was able to talk to my dad down in Florida, he's 75...awesome,” Steve said.

The brick wall on Sheffield now serves as a memorial for all of the Cubs fans who didn't live to see the day their beloved team became world champions.

Besides taking pictures and selfies with the marquee, fans from all over the country came to Wrigleyville to pick up World Series merchandise.

Isela Robles from California flew into Chicago just to experience the magic on the North Side.

"We waited about 2 hours (to buy a) championship hat,” Robles said.

She’s not alone. The line hasn't stopped outside of Sports World, a mere feet from the marquee displaying the words every Cubs fan has dreamed of: World Series Champions.

Pinch yourself, this is real life.
