Party rages on in Wrigleyville following Cubs' World Series parade, rally

FOX 32 NEWS - The party for Cubs players continued into the night Friday as they basked in the afterglow of the parade and rally earlier in the day.

Many of the pitchers and their wives or girlfriends were seen partying on the roof of Murphy’s Bleachers in a special private afterparty.

Then, they led a cheering crowd gathered below in a rousing edition of "Go Cubs Go." Fans were soaking it in and loving it.

“This whole thing, this day has been awesome, the best day of my life ever, my parents made me Cubs fans, Cubbies number one,” said Patti Ciccone.

“It just makes it feel like they're one of us all the way, all the way,” said Blake Toliver

Throughout Wrigleyville, it was a party asmosphere. Clark Street was packed, stores selling Cubs merchandise had lines of people waiting to get inside, and the Wrigley Field marquee was still a major attraction for people wanting to take selfies.

At one point, Cubs President Theo Epstein raised a beer and toasted the crowd below. Travis Wood, bare chested in just a vest, stood on the railing and waved to the crowd.

For those who found this special afterparty, it was the most cheerful place to be. Especially for those in a singing mood. Players put a speaker on the ledge of the roof and jammed out to “We are the Champions.”

Having found their champions made the end of a special season, and a day marked by celebration, just all the more special for fans.

“This is awesome, this being out here and getting a piece of the history, loving it, go Cubs,” said Joe Corcoran.

“I took a plane, I took a train, I took Uber to get here and I enjoying myself, it's an absolutely fantastic, outstanding day, I wouldn't of missed it for the world, congratulations to the Cubs, congratulations to all their fans, go Cubbies,” said Curt Sweeney.
