CHICAGO (STMW) - A south suburban man was killed and five people were injured when a car and CTA bus collided in Roseland on the Far South Side early Wednesday, police said.

The crash happened about 2:30 a.m., when a car heading north on Michigan Avenue near 107th Street veered into oncoming traffic and collided with the bus, according to Chicago Police.

The man driving the car, identified as 35-year-old Cory Binion, of the 14200 block of Avalon in Dolton, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 3:32 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy Thursday found he died of multiple injuries he suffered in the crash and his death was ruled an accident.

Five people from inside the bus were taken to hospitals with minor injuries and two others declined medical treatment, police said.

CPD’s Major Accident Investigation unit is handling the case.
