Police: Man dies after jumping in Chicago River

Police say a man died after he was pulled from the Chicago River near Columbus late Thursday. | NVP News

A man died after he was pulled from the Chicago River downtown late Thursday, police said.

The 20-year-old was with friends and decided he wanted to go for a swim in the river near the Columbus Drive bridge about 11:30 p.m., police said. He was pulled out by the police department’s Marine Unit, which used CPR to revive him.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
