Driver ticketed in fatal Belmont Heights crash

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A driver was ticketed after a crash that left a pedestrian dead early Sunday in the Belmont Heights neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

About 12:30 a.m., a man in his 50s was crossing the street when he was hit by a Honda going west in the 7900 block of West Belmont, according to Chicago Police.

The driver stopped and rendered aid to the man before paramedics arrived, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where he later died. The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released his name.

The driver was later issued citations for negligent driving and driving without a license, police said Monday.
