Indiana State Police are asking for the public's help in locating the owner of an injured dog found early Wednesday morning on a Northwest Indiana road by a Good Samaritan.
Brianna Boyer discovered the dog laying in the westbound lane of E. 109th Avenue just west of Miami Street in Winfield, Ind.
Boyer and another person covered the dog with blankets while they waited for authorities to arrive.
An Indiana State Police trooper stated the dog is an older male Shepherd mix of darker tan/black color, with a silver metal choke collar. The trooper said the dog has a non-aggressive temperament.
The dog appeared to suffer injuries to its rear extremeities but they do not appear to be life-threatening. The Lake County Animal Shelter transported the dog to Coyne Veterinary Center in Crown Point for treatment.
