Protesters hope to block workers from Financial District

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Recall Rahm protesters took to the streets at the Chicago Board of Trade Friday morning.

Activists say they were hoping to block traders from getting into work Friday morning to send a message to Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

"The administration of Rahm Emanuel is Anti-Minority and Anti-Poor. Emanuel is concerned only with the pedigreed, well-heeled and well-connected. The elitism of this administration has stifled and stunted Chicago's economic growth because it limits opportunity to and for only the 'Friends of Rahm' thereby ignoring the talents of the non-elite," The Coalition for A New Chicago's founder, Gregory Seal Livingston. said in a press release Thursday.

As of about 6:45 a.m. Friday, there were not quite enough protesters to block people from getting to work. But the demonstrations did create a disruption in the area.

Livingston says that this will be the first of several demonstrations in the city's Financial District until Rahm Emanuel is removed from office.
