Rahm Emanuel aide to leave for private sector job
CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel's longest-serving aide is leaving his post for a job in the private sector.
Mike Faulman has served as the former White House chief of staff's personal aide since 2010 when Emanuel launched his first mayoral run in Chicago. Faulman also worked in the White House.
The 32-year-old Faulman tells the Chicago Sun-Times that he plans to join Detroit-based Shinola. The wristwatch and bike manufacturer has announced intentions to open a Chicago factory.
Faulman says if the mayor had four hands, he'd be two of them. He says he doesn't have a defined roll, but he's always two steps behind Emanuel altering speeches and schedules and contacting community leaders.
Faulman earned $82,500 in the city post.
