CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Forecasters are warning that snowfall mixed with rain could make for a grisly commute Wednesday morning across northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook as snow is expected to encompass the Chicago area by daybreak Wednesday. As much as two inches of snow could occur in some locations.
Moderate to heavy snow showers are most likely between 5 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., according to the weather service. The showers are then expected to shift into northwest Indiana between 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Meteorologists are warning that reduced visibility and light slushy accumulations will impact the morning commute. Chicago area residents are urged to leave extra time and use extra caution while driving.
Off and on snow showers are anticipated the remainder of the day Wednesday.
