Two Chicago Police officers injured in crash

CHICAGO (STMW) - Two Chicago Police officers were injured in a crash early Thursday in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The officers were southbound on Wentworth in an unmarked SUV when it was struck by a Chrysler heading westbound on 67th Street about 1:15 a.m., according to Chicago Police.

The collision knocked the police vehicle into a fire hydrant, police said.

The officers were taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where they were treated and released.

The driver of the Chrysler, 28-year-old Michael Beeler, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of DUI, and ticketed for driving on a suspended license and driving with no insurance, police said.

Beeler, of the 10000 block of South Lafayette, is scheduled to appear in traffic court on May 17.
