Man arrested on I-55 after reported kidnapping, sexual assault

(SUN TIMES MEDIA WIRE) - A man was taken into custody after a traffic stop on the Stevenson Expressway following an abduction and sexual assault incident that originated in downstate Dwight.

A woman made an emergency call at 1:26 a.m. from a car being driven by a man northbound on I-55 from Dwight, according to Illinois State Police District Chicago Master Sgt. Dominick Falcone. Initial reports indicated the woman may have been abducted and sexually assaulted.

Troopers eventually pulled the car over at 1:48 a.m. on I-55 north of Harlem in southwest suburban Forest View, Falcone said. The man was taken into custody for questioning and the woman was taken to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn.

Illinois State Police are investigating. No charges have been filed as of Tuesday morning.
